What a call sheet app has to do in 2026

A call sheet is the one document every person on set reads. It tells them when to arrive, where to park, what is being shot and who to call if something goes wrong. The best call sheet app makes that document hard to get wrong and easy to get into everyone's hands.

Two things separate the tools below. First, where the data comes from: typed into a form, or pulled from the schedule, the locations and the cast list you already have. Second, what happens after you press send: a PDF in an inbox, or a tracked message where you can see who has opened and confirmed it.

Disclosure: this guide is published by TillyBoard, and TillyBoard is on the list. We put it first for one use case and say plainly where other tools are the better choice. All competitor facts come from the vendors' own websites and are linked.

The 10 best call sheet apps in detail

#1

TillyBoard

Best for crews who want the call sheet built from the shoot plan

TillyBoard is pre-production software for commercials, brand films and social content. The call sheet is not a separate form: it comes out of the shoot day. General call, shooting call, lunch and wrap sit at the top; below come the locations with address, parking, the contact on site, the permit reference and the nearest hospital, then the running order, talents with call and makeup times, and the crew with their calls. Notes on safety, sun and weather close the sheet.

You tick recipients from the project, add outside addresses, write a personal line and send it by email. Cast and crew confirm via link without a TillyBoard login. On set the day's schedule and call sheet are on the iPhone, call times on the Apple Watch, and everyone else gets a PDF.

Strengths

  • Times, locations, running order, cast and crew come from the project instead of being retyped
  • Confirmation via link, recipients need no account
  • Nearest hospital, weather and daylight for the location on the sheet
  • Native apps for iPhone and Apple Watch, plus PDF export

Weaknesses

  • Call sheets go out by email and confirmation link; SetHero additionally sends by SMS
  • Built for commercials and brand content rather than feature-film stripboards
  • Free plan is limited to one own project

Pricing: Free €0 (1 project, 1 GB, 10 AI images a month). Creator €22 a month or €19 billed annually, Studio €39 (€35), Team €109 (€99), Enterprise on request. Excluding VAT, monthly plans cancel any time.

Who it is for: Producers, ADs and in-house video teams who plan the shoot day anyway and do not want to maintain the call sheet separately.

#2

SetHero

Best specialist for sending and tracking call sheets

SetHero is a dedicated call sheet tool and, in this comparison, the most focused one. You build the sheet in a call sheet builder, keep cast and crew contacts in one place and send by email and SMS. Tracking shows who has received, opened and confirmed. Production reports and an Excel export for Movie Magic Scheduling round it off.

Strengths

  • Email and SMS sending with received, opened and confirmed tracking
  • First project free, free for students
  • Pay per project instead of a subscription is possible

Weaknesses

  • No stripboard or script breakdown; scheduling happens elsewhere
  • Starter limits people, shoot days and admins per project
  • Prices scale with the number of projects

Pricing: First project free (up to 75 people, five shoot days); free for students. Starter from $19 a month, Pro from $49, Studio from $129; annual 25 percent cheaper. Pay-per-project is also possible.

Who it is for: Coordinators and ADs on commercials, series, features and music videos who schedule in another tool and want the best possible distribution.

#3

StudioBinder

Best all-in-one suite for scripted film and TV

StudioBinder is a browser-based production management suite. Its call sheet builder sits next to screenplay editor, script breakdown, stripboard scheduling, shot lists and contacts, so the sheet can draw on data the production already holds. Delivery tracking for call sheets is included from the Indie plan.

Strengths

  • Call sheet next to breakdown, stripboard and shot list
  • Delivery tracking from the Indie plan
  • Free plan without time limit

Weaknesses

  • On the free plan call sheets can only be sent to yourself
  • No native app according to its help center; mobile is the responsive website
  • Extra users cost $25 a month each

Pricing: Free never expires but caps each module at ten entries. Starter $29 a month (1 user, 10 projects), Indie $49 (2 users), Professional $99 (4 users); extra users $25 a month.

Who it is for: Production companies and indie filmmakers working from a screenplay who want one system for every department.

#4

Yamdu

Best for German-speaking film, series and commercial productions

Yamdu is production management software for film, series, commercials and documentaries. Script import and breakdown, scheduling, budget, cast and crew and a call sheet builder live in one browser workspace, with apps for iOS and Android. The website is available in twelve languages including German.

Strengths

  • Call sheet builder connected to schedule and cast and crew
  • Apps for iOS and Android
  • Website in German; targets production managers and coordinators

Weaknesses

  • No free plan, only a free trial
  • Flex covers one user and one project; more of each cost extra
  • Studio plan is a big step up in price

Pricing: No free plan, but a free trial without payment details. Flex €39 a month plus VAT for one user and one project (+€19 per user, +€39 per project). Studio €179 a month billed annually with ten users.

Who it is for: Production managers, line producers and coordinators on long-form or commercial productions in German-speaking markets.

#5

Filmustage

Best for AI-assisted breakdown through to call sheets

Filmustage starts from the script: an AI breakdown tags the elements, a stripboard schedule with Day out of Days reports follows, and call sheets and script sides come out at the end. Exports go to PDF, Excel and Movie Magic formats.

Strengths

  • Call sheets and sides built on an AI script breakdown
  • Free plan without time limit includes all non-AI tools
  • Export to PDF, Excel and Movie Magic formats

Weaknesses

  • Built around scripted films; less suited to commercials without a screenplay
  • Web only, no native apps mentioned
  • AI features are billed in coins

Pricing: Free forever with all non-AI tools and one active project (AI breakdown for 20 percent of scenes). Director's Cut $49 a month or $408 a year, including 1,000 AI coins per period.

Who it is for: Indie to studio filmmakers who start from a screenplay and want breakdown, schedule and call sheets in one chain.

#6

Celtx

  • Low entry price for writers
  • Plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro

Weaknesses

  • Free plan has script editors only, no call sheets
  • Call sheets need add-ons or the Team plan

  • Two team members included in the entry price

Weaknesses

  • No free plan shown on the pricing page

#9

Setkeeper

#10

Google Sheets

Best zero-cost baseline for a single small shoot

A spreadsheet is still how many small shoots make their call sheet: a template with times, locations and contacts, shared as a link or exported as a PDF.

Strengths

  • Free with any Google account
  • Everyone knows how to use it
  • Fully flexible layout

Weaknesses

  • Every time and name is typed by hand
  • No confirmations or read tracking
  • Changes to the schedule do not reach the call sheet

Pricing: Free with any Google account. Google Workspace for companies: Business Starter €6.80, Standard €13.60 per user and month, excluding VAT.

Who it is for: Students, one-off shoots and small teams with a handful of people and no budget for software.

Free call sheet options

Google Sheets is the only option here that is free without limits, but you pay for it in time: every name, time and address is typed by hand, and nobody confirms anything.

Among the dedicated tools, the free offers differ a lot. TillyBoard Free gives you one full project with schedule and call sheet and no time limit. SetHero makes your first project free for up to 75 people and five shoot days. Filmustage Free includes all non-AI tools for one active project. StudioBinder Free only lets you send call sheets to yourself, and Celtx Free has no production tools. Yamdu, Dramatify and Setkeeper offer trials instead of free plans.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best call sheet app in 2026?

It depends on the job. For crews who want the call sheet built from the shoot plan, we recommend TillyBoard. For pure distribution with SMS and read tracking, SetHero. For scripted film with stripboard, StudioBinder. For German-speaking productions, Yamdu. For document security on large productions, Setkeeper.

Is there a free call sheet app?

Yes, with limits. TillyBoard has a free plan with one project, SetHero makes the first project free, and Filmustage and StudioBinder have free plans. A Google Sheets template is free without limits but has no confirmations.

Do cast and crew need an account to read the call sheet?

Not in TillyBoard: cast and crew confirm via link without a login. Dramatify gives cast and crew free read access on every plan. With a PDF or spreadsheet nobody needs an account, but you also see no confirmations.

What belongs on a call sheet?

At minimum: general call, shooting call, lunch and wrap; locations with address, parking and a contact; the running order; cast and crew with their individual call times; and emergency information such as the nearest hospital. Weather and safety notes help on exterior days.

Can I read the call sheet on my phone or watch?

TillyBoard has native apps for the day's schedule and call sheet on iPhone and call times on Apple Watch. Yamdu and Studiovity have apps for iOS and Android. Most other tools work in the mobile browser or send a PDF.

How much does call sheet software cost?

Entry plans in this comparison start at $19 a month for SetHero Starter, €19 a month billed annually for TillyBoard Creator, €26.90 for Studiovity, $29 for StudioBinder Starter and €39 for Yamdu Flex. Setkeeper is priced per production from $1,500.
